The Aviemore Area
The Cairngorms are the mountain range that gives it’s name to the national park where Aviemore is located.
The range has five of the top six highest mountains in the UK with the highest point on the massif being Ben Macdui at 1,309m above sea level.
The Cairngorms is a vast plateaux and has some of the harshest weather conditions in the British Isles and many of the great corries can hold snow all year round. In some years it is possible to ski well into early Summer and the mountains attract walkers and climbers all year round.
Aviemore attracts many outdoor enthusiasts with the main activities ranging from walking, climbing, skiing and snowboarding, cycling, golfing, fishing, kayaking are just a few to name.
